Writing of API Reference and Getting Started Guide for Mobile Speech Software Product

Conversational Computing Corp. (Conversay)

The Redmond-based software company was soon going to be launching a new product that would allow mobile devices to use its powerful speech recognition and synthesis engine. Although the product development was far along, the writing of documentation had not yet begun.

The company’s technical documentation team did not have the resources to work on this documentation set, so I was hired as a supplemental writing resource.

First, I collaborated with the documentation manager to scope out the work and identify key resources. There were challenges, for sure. Two months isn’t a long time to write two substantial documents, a Getting Started guide and an API Reference. And unfortunately the development team (which was still cranking out the product) would not have the time to consult with me, forcing me to rely on reading the software source code and talking to Program Management resources for information gathering.

The SDK documentation was completed on time and on budget, helping to give the company a much needed win.
